Here are some ads from the Corticelli Silk Mills of Florence, Massachusetts which featured Corticelli yarns. The ad on the left shows Corticelli yarns for knitting or crocheting. The wrappers on these feature the famous Corticelli kitten, and are fantastic collectibles. One of the yarns shown in the ad is a 2 oz. ball of Corticelli Knitola fingering weight yarn. The ad on the right features Corticelli mercerized cotton yarns, including Princess Pearl cotton yarn and Corticelli Mercerized Cordonnet. A smaller ball of tatting cotton is also shown. You can click the photos below to enlarge them and get a better look. Both of these ads are from the World War I Era Corticelli Yarn Book No. 6 dated 1917.

In the future this page will be updated with lots more information about antique crochet thread and other yarns that were available prior to 1930. In the meanwhile, I’ve added links to some ebay listings for crochet thread. If you see something that catches your eye, you can click the links to visit the ebay auctions, where you can bid or buy if you choose.
