Corticelli Lessons in Crochet Book No. 7

Here we have a lovely antique publication entitled “Corticelli Lessons in Crochet book no. 7″. This book is dated 1917. It features 50 pages of fantastic instruction, including lots of crochet patterns for gorgeous antique projects. The featured items in this book are varied and interesting; there are patterns for linens; a necklace; a pincushion; bookmarks; a doll sweater; filet panels; yokes & collars; sweaters; edgings & insertions for table or bed linens; initials/monograms for filet crochet or cross stitch embroidery; pillow or cushion top; doilies; card case; motifs; bedspreads; lingerie clasps; bonnets; etc.

My favorite part of the whole booklet is the rear cover, which pictures a lovely Edwardian lady in a sweeping silk dress, holding a glorious feather fan. This page is an ad for Corticelli Dress Silks. These patterns are antique and lovely. The majority of patterns, especially the linens, are so beautiful and well designed that they would be suitable for making and using today and into the future. It is never too late to create family heirlooms! If you’re going to go to all the trouble to crochet an item, it really should be something special. This book has plenty of truly special items for you to choose from.A few of these patterns are for knitting or have knitted details, but the majority are all crochet. In the beginning is a guide to the abbreviations & an explanation of stitches. It looks to me as though moden crochet-ers should have little or no trouble finding materials for the majority of these patterns; the recommended yarns are vintage/antique Corticelli yarns, however, crochet thread in the appropriate size should suffice for almost all these patterns. This is a softcover book measuring approx. 6 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches.
